WMD-1200 - FBI Chemical Industry Outreach Workshop (CIOW)

This workshop is hosted by FBI field offices as stand-alone events tailored primarily to chemical industry and academia personnel and subsequently aimed at a broader audience to include JTTF task force officers, FBI, state and local police management, and first responders. The CIOW aides with creating liaisons for potential future tripwire activity reporting. In the morning, attendees receive briefings on improvised explosives (IE), explosive precursor chemicals (EPCs), toxic industrial chemicals (TICs) and the FBI’s WMDD mission to mitigate the EPC/TIC threat. In the afternoon, attendees witness a live demonstration of conventional and improvised explosives, reinforcing the teaching points covered in the morning briefings. The number of attendees is dependent on class-room and explosive range capabilities.
