Seeking Victims in the Steve Waithe Investigation
The FBI is seeking to identify potential victims of Steve Waithe—a former track and field coach at various academic institutions—who allegedly attempted to trick female student athletes into sending him nude or semi-nude photos from between around February 2020 to November 2022, however, victims may have been targeted outside of this time range.
Waithe allegedly used pseudonyms and fake social media handles to contact victims by phone, email, and social media. Some victims were told that there were leaked nude images of them posted on the internet; others were asked to participate in a “body development study” or communicate with a friend who struggled with their body image.
Waithe is alleged to have used variations of these pseudonyms and social media handles, which may have been followed by different numbers:
- Privacy Protector
- Katie Janovich
- Kathryn Svoboda
- Anon
