Title: NC State Curieus Disintegration Field Training Exercise (FTX)
Date: March 14-16, 2023
Location: NC State University Public Safety Center, 2610 Wolf Village Way, Raleigh, NC 27695
Registration Deadline: February 24, 2023
The FTX builds upon the ongoing work of the Y-12 Alarm Response Training (ART) program and the Silent Thunder Table Top Exercise (TTX) series. The intended impact of the Curieus Disintegration FTX is to serve as the training resource to federal, state, and local law enforcement, hazardous materials personnel, and hazardous device personnel with the terrorist vulnerability posed by nuclear and radiological material at facilities that could be used in the construction of a radiological dispersal device (RDD) or radiological exposure device (RED).
The Curieus Disintegration FTX was established to mitigate the vulnerability posed by nuclear and radiological materials at soft target facilities that could be used in the construction of a radiological dispersal device (RDD) or radiological exposure device (RED). During the exercise, participants receive classroom instruction on radiological materials of concern, detection capabilities, and response tactics. Following this instruction, participants engage in one of three practical exercises: tactical operations, hazardous materials, or hazardous devices.
