FBI Community Awareness Presentation: Online Safety Starts with You
FBI Pittsburgh’s WV Resident Agencies will host a community event titled, "Online Safety Starts with You" on Monday, September 9, 2024, at 6:00 p.m.
Special Agents from the FBI's West Virginia Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force will offer two presentations on how to keep children safe online.
The first presentation will be for parents, guardians, and educators at 6:00 p.m. The second session will be for youth (ages 8 – 18) and their parents at 7:00 p.m. The FBI's Community Outreach Program will sponsor activities for youth during the adult session, which will include learning about fingerprints, fitness, and fun games. The FBI will also provide Child ID cards, free of charge.
The presentations will cover topics such as social media, gaming, digital footprints, cyberbullying, extortion, and current trends criminals are using to target and manipulate kids. Special Agents will show parents how technology has been used in West Virginia cases, with guidance to protect children from being victimized.
