FBI Biosecurity & Emerging Agrosecurity Threats Workshop- Manhattan, KS
Goal: The intent of the workshop is to improve collaboration among diverse stakeholders to develop effective detection, mitigation, and prevention strategies to protect against biosecurity/agrosecurity risks.
Objectives:
- Increase awareness of potential biosecurity/agrosecurity threats
- Identify the biosecurity/agrosecurity roles and responsibilities of diverse stakeholders in protecting the Agricultural Sector
- Identify ways to improve collaboration among stakeholders
Impact:
- Sensitizing agricultural professionals, scientists and students to suspicious activity indicators
- Establishing reporting mechanisms between the agricultural/scientific enterprise and FBI by highlighting the role of the WMDC's
- Allowing FBI to have greater ability to address WMD threats through stronger partnership and to yield long term, mutually beneficial outcomes through communication and outreach efforts
- In addition, this workshop supports WMDD's National Threat Strategy for Biological Threats by conducting select training and outreach activities that have national level impact, require specific field offices, or are requested by the WMDC's.
